Credit is bought from the Billing screen in the dashboard. You choose the credit you want, read the total before you commit, and pay on our payment provider’s hosted page.

Before you start

Only the workspace owner can manage its billing: the card and the buying of credit are the owner’s own. Members may read the balance and the statement of the workspace they are in.
You need to be the owner of the workspace. Members can read the balance and the statement, and cannot buy. A member who calls a purchase route gets HTTP 403 carrying the sentence above, so nobody starts a purchase that was never going to complete. You also need the smallest purchase we accept, which is 30.00 of credit. That is the credit you receive; our fee is added on top at the checkout.

Buy credit

1

Open Billing

Sign in to the dashboard and open Billing. The Balance tab is the default and is where the Add credit panel lives.
2

Choose the credit you want

Pick one of the amounts offered, or type your own. The figure is the credit you receive, not the amount charged. An amount below the minimum is refused at the field: the refusal appears inline and the continue control stays disabled, so you never learn the minimum by being bounced back from a payment page.
3

Read the three lines

The panel shows the same three lines whatever you type, and they move as you type:The rate is read live from the dashboard rather than written into the screen, so what you see is the rate your checkout session will use. Where a card is already saved, it is named inside the same box, so the card, the total, the credit and the rate are read together before you commit.
4

Continue to payment

The control opens a checkout session with our payment provider and sends you to their hosted page. Nothing has been charged at this point: a checkout session is not a payment.Press it once. Each attempt opens its own checkout session, and two sessions can become two charges if both are paid.
5

Pay

Enter the card on the hosted page. We never see the card number. If the card is declined, the hosted page is where you are told and where you can try another.
6

Come back

You are returned to the Balance tab, which says the purchase is pending. That is honest rather than cautious: credit is granted when the signed confirmation from the payment provider reaches us, which is usually seconds. You do not have to stay on the page. Closing it changes nothing either way.

If something goes wrong

You left the payment page. The screen says no card was charged and no credit was added, and you can start again. A saved card is untouched by this: nothing on any failure path in this product removes a saved card. The purchase could not be started. The amount you typed is preserved. Do not press Continue again straight away: each attempt opens its own checkout session, and a purchase that did start takes no money unless you finish paying for it. Quote the request id shown with the failure if you need us. The credit has not arrived. Reload the Balance tab. Credit lands only on the confirmed payment, so a purchase that has been paid arrives without any further action from you. If it has not arrived after a few minutes, quote the payment id from your statement.

Read the statement

The Statement tab lists every movement, newest first, fifty lines to a page, with date filters. A purchase line carries the amount charged, the credit granted and the fee, as three sub-fields of the one line, which is what explains the gap between your card statement and your balance. The running total on each page is the sum of your movements up to that line. It is there so you can check our arithmetic. It is not your balance: your balance is on the Balance tab and accounts for credit currently held for requests in flight. The Statement tab is live today, one of the three tabs on the Billing screen alongside Balance and Details. What you see there is read from your ledger, not a preview of a screen still being designed.

Set the low credit notice

You can be emailed once when your available balance falls below a figure you choose. The setting is on the Limits tab in Settings, and it is the owner’s to change.
  • The threshold is a whole number of minor units, from 0 to 100000. 500 means 5.00.
  • 0 turns the email off. The screen says so in words rather than leaving you to infer it from a number.
  • You are emailed once per crossing. No second email is sent until the balance goes back above the figure and falls below it again.
The email states the balance you hold and the threshold you set, says that requests are refused once credit runs out and that nothing is charged for a request we refuse, and points at the Billing screen. It contains no link with a token in it, so nothing about it is a credential and nothing about it expires.

Your saved card

The saved card flow is live today. What the Details tab shows is the real card on file, and removing it there really removes it from our payment provider. Our payment provider keeps the card so that the next purchase does not ask for it again. We store no card number and no expiry: the brand and the last four digits are read from the provider each time the Details tab loads, so there is nothing on our side that can go stale. The Details tab is also where a saved card is removed. Removing it means the next purchase asks for a card again. It changes nothing about credit you have already bought and nothing about your balance. There is no automatic top up, and no disabled control promising one. The Details tab states that absence in words where the other billing facts live.

Every response carries the same id on two headers: x-uniblock-request-id, which is ours, and x-request-id, which is the one the official OpenAI SDKs surface on their error objects. Every error envelope repeats it as request_id. Quote it when you ask us about a request. Without it we are guessing at which of your requests you mean.
